Is escorting or prostitution illegal in the U.K?
The objective of this site is not to offer legal advice but in short, the answer is No, it's not illegal. In Great Britain escorting and prostitution itself (the exchange of sexual services for money) is not illegal, but a number of related activities, including soliciting in a public place, kerb-crawling, owning or managing a brothel or pimping is illegal.
This is part of the reason why so many escorts find it challenging to market their services even in a responsible way. Understanding the law regarding escorting is crucial in order to avoid landing in hot water. But please don't take my word for it, spend some time and read up on the law from the Crown Prosecution Service website so you know where you stand.
A note about consent: This is an area where all male escorts need to pay particular attention. Every individual has the right to change their mind at any stage without feeling guilty or pressured into doing something they don't want to do. This goes both ways but for men, as the physically stronger sex (typically), this responsibility usually falls on our shoulders and the law will be the first to tell us so. If in doubt, ask.
